Dallas Bishop Arts District: Texas Eats & Boutiques Foodie Tour

Taste Texas. Shop Local. Discover Bishop Arts.

What happens when Texas BBQ, Tex-Mex and Mexican cuisine meet the independent shops and creative spirit of one of Dallas’ most distinctive neighborhoods? You get a Bishop Arts food tour with eight tastings, four handpicked food stops and two shopping stops—plus the local makers, neighborhood comeback stories and unexpected finds that make Bishop Arts a destination.

Come hungry—there’s enough food for a meal. Enjoy authentic Central Texas BBQ at Lockhart Smokehouse, backed by a family connection to legendary Kreuz Market and generations of Texas barbecue tradition. At Taco y Vino, dig into a signature tamale bite and your choice of taco while discovering the difference between Tex-Mex and Mexican cuisine and how both became part of the Texas food story.

Save room for a custom mini version of the bestselling sweet treat at longtime Bishop Arts favorite Cretia’s Eatery & Bake Shoppe. Then finish at hidden-away Coco’s Fire & Ice, a women- and Latino-owned Mexican restaurant where nearly everything is made from scratch. Taste a custom off-menu chicken mole enchilada, featuring house-made mole with more than 38 ingredients, followed by house-made pistachio ice cream for the final sweet bite.

Between tastings, discover the independent shops and local makers that give Bishop Arts its creative spirit. At Mosaic Makers Collective, browse handmade goods from Texas women artists and makers and hear how a tiny collective built around collaboration grew into a thriving creative community and explore the independent design and creative finds at We Are 1976.

As you eat and shop, discover the Bishop Arts most visitors walk right past. Hear how local entrepreneurs and neighborhood believers helped transform a once-overlooked Oak Cliff commercial district into one of Dallas’ most distinctive destinations. Spot colorful murals and public art, uncover neighborhood stories and discover the people, businesses and creative energy behind Bishop Arts today.
