At Dealey Plaza, your guide puts November 22, 1963, into context as you explore the landmarks connected to that day. See the Grassy Knoll, stand on the X’s marking where President Kennedy was struck, and look toward the sixth-floor window associated with the official investigation. Hear what is known about the assassination, what the official investigation concluded, and the conspiracy theories and lingering questions that have surrounded it for decades. Visit the JFK Memorial Plaza and take a moment to reflect.
Then the experience continues through the West End Historic District, where every tasting is custom-created for Food Tours of America. At Empanada Cookhouse, enjoy a Venezuelan cheese tequeño, caramelized plantain, scratch-made Latin chimichurri empanada and avocado salsa from a Guatemalan-born restaurateur. At Y.O. Ranch Steakhouse, taste a distinctly Texas bison slider and bacon-wrapped venison roll-up while hearing the story of the legendary Y.O. Ranch, dating to 1880 and remaining in the Schreiner family for six generations. Between bites, step back in time at Wild Bill’s Western Wear, housed in a historic former drugstore, where the original late-1800s bar remains today.
