Start at Hawkers Asian Street Food, the restaurant’s first Texas location, for a custom tasting of Chinese BBQ Pork Bao, Malaysian roti with signature curry sauce and a Jo-He donut. Even the setting has a story: Hawkers occupies the former Curtain Club, connecting your first bites to Deep Ellum’s legendary music scene. Next, taste a classic Margherita pizza at Cane Rosso, whose Neapolitan-style pies were featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. At Velvet Taco, a Dallas-born concept, choose your own creative taco before finishing at locally owned Armoury D.E., known for its Hungarian roots and distinctly Deep Ellum personality. “I’m so happy I went on this tour, Veronica was fantastic!! This was my first time in Dallas and I learned more history on this tour than I would have found on my own! Each place she took us to had renowned foods with a variety of flavor. My favorite part was when Veronica walked us through the beautiful murals in Deep Ellum and described its deep historic roots. Side note: My partner got injured and was unexpectedly in a wheelchair for this tour, she happily helped us through and reassured us that all areas are wheelchair accessible. My fiancé, a visiting friend and I signed up for the Deep Ellum Brunch Tour. Our tour guide was Veronica, she was amazing. She was informative, fun and very personable. She started the day with a text to ensure we knew where to meet her and what she looked like (so helpful!). During all of the stops she was very knowledgeable about the location, food and any relevant stories of interest. Veronica also provided additional tips about great places to visit in and around Dallas (I am a local). I have been on many food tours throughout the U.S. and this was my favorite one. (You will be stuffed when you are done!).
