Taste, ride and discover Uptown Dallas after dark—all dressed up for the holidays
See Dallas light up for the holidays on a night filled with great food, vintage streetcars and behind-the-scenes access to the historic McKinney Avenue Trolley.
Come hungry for 10 tastings at three handpicked restaurants, with plenty of food for a meal. Discover family recipes from Thailand at Ka Thai with a custom Food Tours of America tasting flight. Step inside family-owned San Martín Bakery & Restaurant, decked out for the holidays with beautiful décor and twinkling lights, for Tuscan pizza and something sweet. At Meso Maya Comida y Copas, enjoy a Mole Poblano Enchilada on a house-made blue corn tortilla inside the historic 1938 Luna Tortilla Factory building.
Between bites, climb aboard an authentic vintage McKinney Avenue streetcar—not a reproduction. Every car has a story that began long before it arrived in Dallas. Some came from around the world, while others had surprising second lives after leaving the tracks. Rosie, the oldest car in the fleet, came all the way from Portugal.
When available, go behind the scenes at the McKinney Avenue Trolley Car Barn, a working facility not generally open to the public. See where the historic cars are restored and maintained, meet members of the trolley team and hear the stories, personalities and quirks behind the fleet. You may even meet John Landrum, son of MATA founder Ed Landrum, who grew up around the streetcars and loves sharing their stories. Food Tours of America proudly supports the McKinney Avenue Transit Authority (MATA) with a donation for every tour visit.
Outside, Uptown is dressed for the season. Take in holiday lights, decorated streets and the Dallas skyline, with Santa hats, holiday light necklaces and other festive accessories for photos along the way.
Finish at Klyde Warren Park, built above a downtown freeway and now one of Dallas’ favorite gathering places. Take holiday photos beneath the illuminated tree as your guide brings the surrounding cityscape to life, from the Dallas Arts District and downtown skyline to the Nancy Best Fountain. After dark, water, lights and music transform the fountain, and you’re welcome to stay after the tour and enjoy the holiday show when available.
